Local Knowledge
Wellington is the capital city of New Zealand and is a vibrant, cultural city that has plenty to offer the travelling tourist. Set on a stunning harbour and surrounded by rolling hills there is plenty to be explored. It is home to New Zealand’s national museum ‘Te Papa’ which translates to ‘Our Place’ in English, full of interactive and visitor-focused experiences for you to enjoy.
The Beehive is a famous architecturally distinctive building that is part of Wellington’s Parliament buildings complex; this is located in the city centre and well worth a visit. For those of you who are coffee lovers, Oriental Bay provides plenty of cute cafes to admire the stunning harbour from, or just take a walk around the area to take in the beautiful scenery.

Wellington centre is where all the action is, if you wanted a more relaxed atmosphere take a trip to some of the places just out of town like Lower and Upper Hutt. It is a great city to get around easily in with more people using the public transport system in Wellington than any other city in New Zealand. Wellington is only a 1-hour flight from Auckland or a 9-hour drive if you wanted to drive through the central North Island by car.
